A Newbury Wedding, The marriage was celebrated recently of Miss' Ella Adelaide Morns, third daughter of Mr. B. Morris, of Iscwbury, Kangitikei Line, to Sir. Johannes Burmeis'tcr, sscond son of Mr. J. H. Biirmeister, Kairanga. Both bride and bridegroom belong to pioneer families, and, accordingly, a considerable amount, of interest was displayed in the event. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Christensen. Tho bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a pretty cream frock 'trimmed with tucked net, and a court train, finished with cream braiding. Sho wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Miss H. Burmeister (sister of tho Bridegroom) and tho Misses Laura and Vera Morris were tho bridesmaids. Thoy all wore cream frocks and hats to match, and carried shower bouquets. Tho bride'.s present from the bridegroom was a gold brooch, and brooches were also uiven to the bridesmaids. Mr. M. Burmeister was best man, and Mr. L. Morris groomsman. A reception was afterwards held at tho homo of the. bride's parents, wliere the customary' congratulatory speeches were made and toasts honoured. In the evening a dance was held in the Newbury Hall, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Fcilding Notes. On Saturday afternoon there was a large attendance at golf, Miss Bruce providing tea. Among tho players were Mesdames Montgomery, Harding, Grut, Misses Shannon, Bruce, Kerton, Wyatt, Mountfort, Bailey, O'Halloran, Burrell, Haybittle, Messrs. Power, Pryde, Hood, Colman, Ongley, Treveua, Goodbehere, Prior, Logie, Parkes, and M'Lean. On Monday Mrs. Roberts gave' an enjoyable little bridge party for Mrs. PitzHerbert. Among the guests wore Mesdames FitzHcrbert, ' Horrocks, Gillespie, Willis, Stewart, Halliday, Montgomery, anil others. Mr. and Mrs. Barton have returned from a trip to Kotorua. Mrs. and Miss Atkinson, who have been visiting friends in "Wellington, returned last week. , Mrs. Hill gave a bridge and musical evening for Mrs. and Miss M. Wellington, and Mr. Elliott, of Pending. „On Tuesday evening a successful social and dance were given bv members of the St. John's Girls' Guild in the Parish Hall, in aid of the debt on the hall. It is the intention of the committer to hold these entertainments fortnightly.

Mrs. Sprotfc has been elected president of the Girls Friendly Society in place of Mrs. Walhs. Miss Whitaker expects to Ijo back in Wellington for A week about the middle of June. Mrs. Waldegrare ,(Palmerston North) returned to New Zealand from, a visit to England by the lonic on Wednesday.

Berkeley. The friends of Mrs. \ Samuel Brown, Wellington, will regret to hear of her serious illness, which necessitated a consultation of .doctors yesterday afternoon. Miss Brann, who lias been connected with tho Huknrero-.Girls' School for tome yeaTs, has left to take up educational work in the Waipiro Bay district. Mrs. Sinclair is visiting her mother, Mrs. Hoadley, in Hawke's Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bayly, who have been spending some days in" Wellington, returned yesterday to their home in Toko. Mr. and Mrs. Ull.Ct, of Sydney, are visiting AVelliajl/in. JJrs, ZWjt was formerly Miss 'UZScutfa ''Ufi/vio, tile clover comedienne, who .toured New Zealand with Williamson's Musical Comedy Company three years ago. It lias been decided that a ball, with tho object of raising funds for the purchase of an X-ray apparatus for the Alasterton Hospital, is to be held in Masterton on Coronation night, June 22, and is to bo followed next night by a children's fancy dress ball. Collier, Campbell, Hand-Newton, Lamb, Moodie, K. Welch, and H. C. L. Robinson.
