KILLED BY A MOTOR-CAR.

VICTIM A LITTLE BOY. A distressing fatality occurred on th« Hutt Head, Pdene, at a quarter to i o'clock yesterday aiternoon, the victim being a "little biy named William JaiUM Wahlstrom, aged' II years and il months. The lad was run over and killed instant.y by a motor-car driven by Hubert Packer, of Jiouloutt Street. There were people in the car besides Ihe driver, and, ,k----cording to their staic-iiicnl (furnished to the police) the car was proceeding to Wellington, and, when about 200 yards inrth 'of the railway station, was approaching mi express wagon going in (ho opposite direction. Two boys were noticed rnnniiii,' behind the wagon, which wasdriven by a Mr, J'eel;. When' the car was about twenty or thirty yards distant from the express, one of the boys left the wagon ami ran off to the side of-tho read, but, just as the car was almost nbiea-t of tiie wagon, the other boy (William V.'ahlslrom) endeavoured to run across to the side of the road also. The result was that, he was! struck by the car, with the distre.-.-sing result stated. A doctiir was immediately summoned, but could.only pronounce lifo extinct. Deceased lived with his father, Mr. A. Wahlstrom. at Mrs. Nownham's home on the Hutt Kaad. His father is a platelayer on Hip railways. An inquest will bo held at Petoue af 2.30 p.m. to-day.
