This afternoon tlio cup contests of tlio Rugby Union will be .advanced another stage, and what should prove interesting games are. down for decision. The Athletic-Ponekc fixture tn.kes place at tlio park, and the St. James-Orien-tal game at Petone. Both Athletic and Poneko have one loss against them this season, and a keen contest to maintain their position should result, from their meeting this afternoon. On the Xo. 2 ground at the park, Petono meet Melroso and, although the latter is , not the Melroso of a few seasons back, the team is expected to make a certain showing against their old-time opponents. St. James and Oriental liavo both won all their matches this season, so that considerable interest attaches to their contest at Petone this afternoon. The train leaves Lambton Station at 2.20.
GROUNDS IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, May 12. The Auckland Rugby Union has secured the lease of Alexandra Park, for which the Northern Union League was competing.
