Violet Campbell pleaded guilty to a charge of escaping from the Salvation Army Home, where she had been detained under the Reformatory Institutions Act. Harrv Pearce, charged with failing tn make provision for the maintenance of an unborn illegitimate child, was remanded to appear at Pahiatua on May 24. Bail was allowed as before. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the accused. . , Ellen Elizabeth Hetrat, against whom there were several previous convictions for drunkenness, w&s declared a habitual inebriate, and sentenced to three months' imprisonment. James Joseph Wilson, charged with drunkenness, was fined'4os., with the option of 14 days imprisonment. One first-offending inebriate .was convicted and discharged. John Calvert was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for making use of improper language.
