The Harbour Board have notified that this signal station will probably be re-established at an early date, when another notice will bo issued. Newly. Determined,- position of Three Kinirs Island, North of New Zealand.-lle-ferrine to Noti-co to Marines No. 24 of 1911, Admiral G. King-Hail. K.N.. Cqmman-dcr-in-Chicf on the Australian Station, reports that further observations have been taken on shore in order to check with ereator accuracy t'c position of tho Three Kings Island. Circum-mcrMian altitudes of the sun were taken with an 88. sextant and stand, with an α-rtifldal horizon. 25 yards S.E., of the provision depot on Great Island, Threo Kines. Position of observation spot by Chart No. 1512 (laree corrections, June, 1907), lat. 34deg. 7m. 55f. H., lonjr. 172deg. Bm. 355. E.: position of observation, lat. 34dcir. 9s. lira. 8. long. 172 des. 9m. Iβ. E. This places Great Island about H miles south and one-third mile E. of the present charted position. Charts, etc., affected: Admiralty Charts I\ T os. 2525 and 1512; "Now Zealand Pilot," eighth edition, 19C8, Ohap. ii., naee 31. Auckland Harbour.—Dredger off Railway Wharf.—Tho Auckland Harbour Hoard have notigcd that the dredger "llapai" is now working off.the western side of tho Hallway Wharf, with six mooring chains laid out in different directions. When in the channel a red ball'by day iind'a red light by night will-be.shown-by the dredger on the. clearest side for. passing. Masters of vessels are warned to use great caiuion when approaching or passing the dredger. Charts, etc., affected: Admiralty Chart No. 1970;
"New Zealand Pilot," eighth editiou. 1908, Chap, ii, pace 38. . Auckland Harbour.—Hocks in Raneitoto Channel.—Lieutenant Jackson, K.N., in charge of Admiralty Survey of Auckland Harbour, reports the existence of the following rocks:—
1. A small rock, about 12 yards square, with a depth of water at low water spring tides of 23ft., in the followinj* position.— Bean Rock Lighthouse, bearing S. 38 degrees E; Resolution Point, bearing S' 29J degrees W, or S 51 degrees W. magnetic, 265 yards from Kaipara Shoal buoy. This rock is not in the main channel, but coasting vessels passing inside the luminous buoy are warned of its existence. The rock is now being removed: a punt in moorod on the spot during the daytime, and removal will probably be effected within a week. 2. A small rock, with 13 fnthonis at low water spring tide?, exists »cn,r the 21 fathom sounding shown on the published chart, to the S.W. of Rough Rock buoy. Its position is R. 16 degrees W. magnetic, 270 yards from Rough Rock buoy. Charts, etc., affected: Admiralty Chart No. 1970; "New Zealand Pilot," eighth edition, 1908, Chap ii, pnge 38.
lONIC, DDE WEDNESDAY. Messrs. Levin and Co., local agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, state? that when the lonic was approaching the Tasmanian coast on Thursday, a wireless message was received from the vessel stating that the big steamer would be off the Dcrwcnt that night, but would not berth before the following morning. A subseuent cable states that the lonio berthed at Hobart at 8 a.m. yesterday. This is the ilrst steamer of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's fleet to have wireless instruments installed. She will also have tlio distinction of being the first pn-ssenger steamer employed in the LondonNew Zealand direct service to arrive at Wellington so equipped. Other vessels or the fleet arc being fitted up as they reach London. Owing to her late arrival at Ilobarl. tlic lonic will not reach WellUigtou until Wednesday morulas.
