The needle will movo at noon exactly of New Zealand mean time, at which hour a chronometer set to Greenwich mean timfl should show 12h. 30m. Any difference will be the error of the chronometer, fast, or slow, on Greenwich mean time. True time will be similarly signalled at each hour .of the day,
