Half-pound Hour, a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoonful of bnkius powder, Jib. o« t " r . about 1 gill of coid water, gill of milk, Jib. jam. ~ , 'Sift tho flour, salt, and baking powdci into a basin, rub in the butter, and mix to a stiff paste with cold water. Koil out the paste to an oblong shape, about one-third of an inch thick. Spreaclt he jam over tho surface of Uie paste, damp the edges with water, and roll it up. lut the roll in a large greased piedish; pour the milk over it, and bane in a morteiato oven H hours. Serve on a hot di=n. TOR TO-MORROW. Calf's head a la Francaise. Potatoes. Turnips. Apple-batter pudding.
Mr. Thomas 8011, a conductor on th& Canadian-Pacific Railway, recently took his breakfast in a Fort William restaurant, ami ordered a dish of oyster stew. 11l tho stew he found a pearl, which has been valued by a local jeweller at ,£SOO.
