The trouble in, Jerusalem arising out of tho research work being done there by tiio expedition led by Captain the Hon. Montagu Parker (brother of the Earl of Jlorley), in the vicinity of the Pool of Siloaru, at the south-east end of the town, was tho.subject of an excited debate in the Chamber of Deputies. The Minister for the Interior stated that a former Grand Vizier had granted the explorers the right to excavate two passes, but that permission for a third attempt from the sanctuary of the .Mosque of Omar had been refused. The explorers, (ha Minister, proceeded to s.i.v, then corrupted officials and violated tho sanctuary. The baggage of Iho Englishmen had been searched at Jaffa, but did not contain proof of the thefts. Qaptain Parker-,, interviewed here, said that all antiquities found at Jerusalem had been handod to the Turkish authorities.
