UNITED STATES AND MEXICO. CABINET DISCUSSES QUESTION OF INTERVENTION. BATTLE FOUGHT AT JUAREZ. By Tcleffrapb— l'ress Association-Copyneut (Rec. May 11, 0.6 a.m.) Washington, May 10. Mr. Taft admits that the Mexican situation is grave. All the States of Mexico, e:;cept three, are involved in the insurrection. The Cabinet has discussed the duty of the United States to maintain. order on the American Continent. No foreign Government, Mr. Taft declared, has hitherto suggested that the United States should intervene. IMMEDIATE WAR. SENATE DEBATES INVASION, PROTECTION OF AMERICAN CITIZENS. (Rec. May 11, O.G a.m.) Washington, May 10. Senator Stone has attacked Mr. Taft in a Senate debate for his failure to take action to protect the lives of Americans on the Mexican border. He asserted thai the dispatch of .American troops to the border was a mere game of. bluff, and suggested that the troops be sent on to Mexican soil to protect Americans, and then to retire. Senator Bacon replied that invasion meant immediate, war. The Senate decided to take no action in the matter. BATTLE AT JUAREZ. HEAVY LOSSES ON BOTH SIDES. FIGHT RESULTLESS. Mexico City, May 9. A big battle is raging at Juarez. There are hundreds of dead and wounded on both sides. The Federals refuse to surrender. It is expected the rebels will get possession of the town this afternoon. (Roc. May' 11, 0.26 a.m.) Mexico City, May 10. A report from El Paso states that the Juarez battle was rcsultlcs*. Its resumption at daybreak was probable. Five American trans-frontier spectators were dead and fifteen wounded. Tlio federal loss does not exceed fifty dead and the insurrcctors probably lost the same number. Tho rebels gained the streets of Juarez several time?, but the Federals drove them out under heavy fire. Tho rebels hold important positions, and if the attack is resumed they arc likely to capture tho city. The rebels have captured the town of Tijuana, in Lower' California, by assault. There aro seventy, dead and wounded on both sides.
