Gibb stated that the recently-estab-lished Orphanage had met with a remarkable measure of support' during the past year. Tho erection of new buildings and the expansion of tho work generally would, however, make a still greater demand on their resources in the future. It was resolved that congregations within the bounds be asked to givo a collectiOn.'iii.aid'of the funds of the Orphanage during the present month, or as soon thereafter as possible, and that in view of the urgent claims of the work a liberal response,bo earnestly solicited. Tho Rev. R. Inglis. reported that the necessity for on enlargement of tho church. at Khandaliah had .become urgent. The congregation proposed to provide a vestry and large class-room in addition to the alteration to the church itself. It was resolved that gratification bb expressed at the progress that rendered such a work necessary, that the plans be approved and permission be granted to take tho necessary steps to carry out the work..
A committee consisting of the ministers and elders of Wellington and the suburbs was appointed to make any arrangements deemed advisable for a service in connection with the Coronation.
Considerable discussion took place over the situation created by the operation of the Territorial defence scheme. The' Defence Act of 1009, amended in 1910, gives each denomination power to appoint chaplains to net in conncction with the Territorial Forces. The authorities will give every facility for providing for the. religious needs of the troops. Provision has also been made in the new for the formation /of senior cadet corps in connection with tho various churches or denominations. General approval of these provisions was expressed, and a committee was appointed to consider details, and take such immediate action as was necessary. The committee met yesterday afternoon. It was decided, that this committee resolves in favour of Boy Scouts senior cadet units, or senior cadet units in connection with the churches, and especially approves of. the former.
