HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held ye.-terday, tho.-e present being:—Councillors -M. J. Lynch (chairman), \V. Galloway, AY. AA elch, J. AVhiteman, and J. Wakehani. Tile - inspector reported that the HuttAVnikanae track liad been blocked with timber for several day?, hut was now clear. The repairing of the Raumati Road wits now ,in hand. Mr. A. Mills waited on the council in regard to the reading of the Brandon Estate. Certain amendments of the proposals were mutually agreed to. Sir. Eric Riddiford also interviewed the council in reference to tho construction of the lower portion of about I lire? milts, of the AVaimii-o-mata Head. The council decided to raise a loan of .£3OO for the work, on the understanding that Mr. Eiddiford would defray any sum over and above that amount, which the undertaking entailed. It was also decided to reduce the level of a dangerous porlion of tliei Khyber Pass Road. A petition from the. Judgeford.settlers regarding a deviation of Moonshine Road was referred to the inspector of works. The health officers reported on the condition of certain boiling-down works at Belmont. The parlies concerned, it was stated, had now taken steps to comply with the requirements of the Department. • It was decided to call for tenders for the construction of Phillips's. Road, between AVaikanao and Upper Ilutt. An application was received from Messrs. Seaton and Sladden (surveyors) to make a road through Section 89, Upper Hiitf. The. application was referred to the inspector of works. A tender was accepted for metalling the Main Read west between Brown'. 1 ; Hill and Mr. Burrow's gate. Accounts totalling .£SuG were passed for payment.
