Auckland, May 9. It has been definitely decided to hold' an International Exhibition in Auckland in 1012. Tho committee appointed by the Chamber of Commerce has declared unanimously in' favour of the proposal. Mr. 13. Kent, who agreed to accept the position of president, stated. that the Auckland Exhibition of 1898 was, a splendid success. • Though it would bo necessary to obtain guarantors for ' at. least J310,000 for the forthcoming exhibition, no difficulty was anticipated.on this score. He added that there was no doubt the Government would treat the promoters liberally, as they did in assisting the 18'Jfi exhibition, POLLUTING THE OROUA. Palmcrston^North, May 9. In the S.M. Court, E. P; Levien and ' 11. Jarvis, llaxinillers, were each fined ,£2 and costs for depositing flaxniill rofusn in the Orona River, in contravention of the, fisheries Conservation Act. Jarvis was also fined £2 and costs for permitting flaxniill refuse to be deposited where it could be blown into the river.
