D. iiuikb, and the Hon. T. Mackenzie will be in Wellington, the Hon. li. M'Kenzie in Tnranaki, the Hon. .T. A. Miliar in Dtinedin, the Hon. G. Fowlds at To Awnmutu, and the lion. A. T. Xgata on the East Coast. The Chief Justice (Sir liobert Stout) will leave this city for Auckland on June 1, en route for the Cook Islands, where ho is to try a charge of mnrder and inquire into the complaints of maladministration. The Anglican Bishop of Ancklaiul (Dr. Crossley) will come to Wellington early next month' to take part in the consecration of the liev. T. 11. Sprott, the Bishopelect of Wellington. Ju.-t before his consecration a cablegram was received stating that the University of Dublin had conferred the degree of Doctor of Divinity ou tho Bishop of Auckland, who took his Ji.A. degree at Trinity College, Dublin, in 1881, and his M.A. in ISSB. .Mr. Hirold Beanchnup, chairman of the Bank of Xcw Zealand, has made arrangements to leave for England, via Canada, ou June 23. Tho annual meeting of the bank, will take placc on June IG. Mr. IT. Waldegrare, Commissioner of Police, paid an official visit to Palmerston this week. Dr. Pomare publishes a denial of a statement telegraphed from Te Ivuiti that ho is standing for Parliament to defeat tho dominance of Mahuta. He states that he consented to stand owing to tho repeated request of the tribes of tho Western district for redress of their grievances—Press Association. Mr. Percy Jones, late orderly at the Magistrate's Court, Wellington, leaves for Christchurch to-night to take- up, the position of chief bailiff in that city. Yesterday morning he was tho recipient of a presentation from the Court stuff. Mr. L. Sievers, honorary secretary of the Wellington Kugby Heterees' Association, was on Monday night tho recipient of several pieces of silver plate from members of the association. The presentation, which was made by Mr. 11. E. Card, was to mark the occasion of Mr. Sievers's marriage. . _ The death_ is announced at the age of 7G of Mr. William Bell, who, over tliirtv years ago, became a settler in the llafcombe.end cf the Manchester Block. He followed farming pursuits for many years, 1 and served a long term as a member of the. llalcombe Town Board. He was widely known and highly respected throughout the district. He originally landed at Dtinedin in the very early days of settlement in Otago. Subsequently he went to tho West Coast goldfields, and narrowly escaped being a passenger in the ill-fated steamer City of Dunedin. of which no tidings were ever heard after her departure from Wellington. He also was in the Nelson district at the time of the Burgess, Levy and Kelly murders. Mr. Bell drove the first team of horses (his own property) into •Gabriel's Gully, where he opened a store. He lived for lour years afterwards in Victoria.
A .cable message received last evening announces the death, at Santander, in Spain, of Mr. Adam Hatton Featherston Johnston, son of the Hon. C. J. Johnston, JI.L.C. Deceased was educated at Waliganui College, and afterwards entered the Royal Navy as a lieutenant. Ho subsequently returned to New Zealand, and about five years ago loft for Spain, where ho has since resided. Ho was 33 years of age.
Jlr. D. 31. Findlay, solicitor, has left for London 011 a business trip.
Messrs. C. and S. Mowlem, sons of Mr. F. Mowlem, of Palmerston North, have left that town to take up land in the Stratford district.

Haiilon, chemist, of' Molesworth Street, slated that Mr. Hanwell Williams, a well-known and much-respected citir.cn, died suddenly at Greymouth yesterday. Mr. Williams was a' pioneer colonist. After living in Dunedin for some timo ho commenced business as a chemist in Greymouth' in ISGS, opening the first chemist's shop in the Grey district. About five years later lie bought out Mr. Ewan Prosser, of Mawhera Quay, and it is on this site that the business is still conducted. On February 1, 1!)05, Mr. Williams disposed of his establishment- to his two sons, Messrs. C. I'. Williams and L. ,L Williams. The death of Jlr. Hanwell Williams will be deeply regretted by many friends 'on the West Coast and in other parts of New Zealand. A Press Associal inn telegram states that Mr. Williams was 7G years of age. Oil Marrli 23 last he celebrated his golden wedding. Deceased took a keen- interest in the welfare of the town, and was highly rcspected throughout the Coast. He leaves a widow and three sons.

Captain P. T. King, for many years connected with the Gear Company, Will leave on a trip to tho Old Country on Friday, lie will lie accompanied by his wife and niece (Nurso Norman).

The death occurred in Wellington on Sunday of Mr. Richard Robinson, aged 59 years. Mr. Robinson tvas a well-known oolouist, having been 30 years in the New Zealand railways.
