Sir Joseph and lady Ward proceeded to Windsor to-day and laid a wreath on the tomb of Kins Edward. The -wreath bore the inscription: "In loving memory of the universally beloved of tho world, our lato lamented Sovereign King Edward, from tho people of New Zealand."
A PARLIAMENTARY LUNCHEON.
(Km. May 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 6. Messrs. Wason, Fell, and Hammersley, and Dr. Chappie, New Zealand members of the House of Commons,'are giving Sir Joseph Ward a luncheon on Monday to British Parliamentarians.
Mr. J. Cathcart Wason, Liberal member for Shetland and Orkney, was educated at Rugby and called to the Bar, but lie wont to New Zealand at an early age, prospered in farming, and for a timo adorned the House of Representatives. Ho is a six-footer with a tasto for knitting in the recreation rooms of tho House of Conimous. Hβ was born iu 1818. Mr. Arthur Fell, Conservative member for Great Yarmouth, was born in 1850 iu New Zealand. Ho is a ictired solid-, tor, and is now interested in company direction. Ho is an ardent Tariff Reformer.
Mr. Alfred St. Goorgo Hammersley, K.C., Liberal member for Woodstock (Mid-Oxford), was born in 1818 at Pyston Manor, Oxfordshire. He was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple, and afterwards practised as a barrister in New Zealand. He found a brido in Mi?s Maud Hastings, daughter of a citizen of Wellington. Mr. Hammersley afterwards lived in Vancouver for some years. . Dr. A. W. Chappie, Liberal member-for Stirlingshire, was born in Duncdin, nnd for many years practised medicine in New Zealand.
