FRACAS AT A STAGE DOOR.
A 28-STITCH WOUND. As the result of a fracas which occurred; outside the stagp door of the Opera House luto on' "Friday night, Patrick M'Cann, a scenershiftor, and member of tho Hel. iiugtoa Stage-Workers' Union, had his cheek split oneii in a horrible, manner by a bottle wielded , by another man, 'who has been arrested. Tho extent of ttio wound inflicted can be ganged from Uio fact that it took 28 stitches to draw tho ilosh together. The blow also knocked ia some of M'Cann's teeth. It appears that other men were present when the altercation took place, and M'Cann was pushed down the steps outside tho stago door bv the man who has since liceu arrested. M'Cann got up and struck him, and tho other, it is alleged, then struck MCana in the face with a beer bottle. The affair is to l>o investigated ia tho Magistrate a Court to-day.
