.WILL THE CLAIM BE PAID?. • The claim for compensation with which tlio' Auckland Harbour Board was threatened by tlio New Zealand Shipping Company in connection with tho accident to the steamer Kaipara was referred to by Mr. W. J. Napier in nddressing a meeting of electors at Auckland .(says the "Herald"). •Ho , ' 1 explained that p.. writ liad'bcon issued, but it was still "between heaven, and earth." Tho board'had an overwhelming defence, and while ho could not disclose its character, as tho matter was still sub judice, he could say that the board was preparrd to meet any action that might bo instituted against it. "I am informed, howovor," saic , Mr. Napier, "that within the next wee£ or two tho case will bo discontinued."
