GENERAL FARMING NEWS.
At a meeting of the committee of tho Dannevirke A. and P. Association it was reported that the Hon. D. liuddo would visit Dannevirke and go into thdmatter of arranging a permanent tenure of tho domain as a showground. Mr'. G. J. E. Bickford has been granted leave of absence by the Dannevirke A. and P. Association for a visit to England,- and Mr,. T. Bain' appointed treasurer in his stead. At a meeting of the executive of the Stratford A. and P. Association the recommendation of the sub-committee, that the oval be fenced with wire-netting at a'cost of ,£ls, was adopted. The balance-sheet of _,tho 1 Feilding branch-of-the Farmers' Union shewed a credit of 17s. 4d., or an improve-' ment of ,£l2 Cs. lid. during tho year. Up to the present the immigrants who have reached Victoria have practically all come 'from Great Britain and ISortli America (states the "Australasian"). A bulletin from the Midland Agricultural and Dairy' College reports the results of a trial in m'ilk production on two plots of four acres each of poor pasture, one of which was dressed with 4cwt. oi highgrade superphospate and 1-icwt. of sulphate of potash per acre, while the other had only lOcwt. of ground lime, which was applied to' both plots. In 1909 the increased production of milk on the manufed plot was 81 gallons per acre, and in 1910 it was 86 gallons. The manures were applied in 1909 only.
