PRICE OF BULK BUTTER,
It is stated in Wellington that a big Taranaki factory which has been supplying butter in bulk to Wellington merchants put. up its price on Tluirsdav. . Elevenpence per pound, it is said, was the price up till Thursday, when an increase of one-eighth of a penny was asked and obtained. The merchant who gavo the information regarded the move as important, NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE. THE WELLINGTON MARKET. On the Wellington market local pears are in good request. Tbo price is Bs. to 15s. Tho quotations for apples are 4s. (3d. to ss. tjtl. for cookers, and for choico dessert, which aro scarce, 7s. to 10s. a case. Other sorts are selling 'at from 3s. 6d. to os. 6d. Quinces realised 3s. 6d. to 4s. during tho week. Nelson grapes brought Sd. to Is. a pound," and'local grapes lOd. to Is. Id. The prices of vegetables are:—Cabbages, 3s. 6d. to ss. 6d. a sack;' cauliflowers, Cs. to Bs. a sack; carrots, 3s. to 4s. a sack; French beans, 4s 3d. to 6s. a half-sack; green peas, 6s. to 7s. a half-sack; marrows, Is. 6d. to 2s. 6d. a sack; 3s. 6d. to 4s. 6d. a sack; swedes.. 2s. to 2s.'6d. a sack, cwt.; potatoes, ss. to ss. 6d. a cwt.; spinach, 2s. a case; and lettuce3s. 6d. to ss. 6d. a case.
