DRAUGHTS ASSOCIATION.

THE ANNUAL MEETING.. (By Telegrap!ji.-Pres3 Association.) Dunedin, April 27. The annual meeting of tho New Zealand Draughts ,• Association was held to-night. Mr. E. Caldow, president, occupied the chair, and about 25 members were present, '■ Mr. HiUiker, hon. secretary of the association's executive, said that the Auckland committee had not sent any accounts of the moneys which it had received and expended. They could, therefore, do nothing as far as the treasurer's report was concerned.. The chairman said that the Auckland committee would pay out prize money les? expenses, and Would have n net balance. He believed that there was .£25 in the bank to tho credit of the New Zesland Association, and this might be added to from time to time to form a prize fund.' It was decided that the next New Zealand championship meeting bo held at Wellington,. undor the auspices of the Workinsnien's Club. The disqualification imposed on a Wellington player in 1903 was removed. The names of Messrs. A. Matheson and F. Keenan were added to tho list of the permanent executive, in place of Messrs. Montgomery and Buttcrfield, retired. A keen discussion took place on a motion that further championships should be decided on tho "nil round" system, one point to be given, not for each game, but for each round. Messrs. Penman and Eoreham strongly condemned tho "all round" system, and declared that they would not play under it. The motion was withdrawn, and, eventually, it wfts decided that tho question be left to tho association's executive to decide in consultation with tho Wellington Club. A motion that only members of draughts clubs be allowed to compete for the championship was lost by a large majority. . The following officers were elected:— President, the president of tho Wellington Workingmen's- Club's Draughts Club; vice-president, the vice-presidents of tho shove club and Mr. Brownlce. The prizes won at the recent tournament were presented during the evening.
