J. liodlcy, C.ll, commandant of the New Zealand Forces; Colonel A. W. Jiobin, C.H., Adjutant and (Jiiarlor-maslcr-Gejieral of (he J-'orces; a oil Colonel K. J. Collins, Y.D., J. 5.0.. Chief 'Executive Ofiiccr of the Dominion Ififle Association. Captain S. V. Tra-k, of tho District .Headquarters. Staff, was al.-o present. The men were assembled on the promenade dock of the steamer and addressed by the Minister, who wished I hem bon voyage and every success. They had, he said, high traditions to maintain, in the example which had been .'el them by the team which won the Kolapore Cup in MO!. .Major-General Gorlley added his good wishes, and said that from what he saw of them at Trentham, he felt sure that they had a very good chance of success. He hoped that they would, when at Home, study rifle shooting from the military point of view, and make themselves acquainted with modern ideas ou musketry training, and that Lieutenant-Colonel Hughes ■ would find time to visit the School of Musketry at Hythe. There ho would find rifle shooting carried out from the military point of view, which was the essential point of view so far as the defence of the country was concerned. Colonel Collins, in expressing his good wishes, hoped that they would remember that as a team, they were the representatives of New Zealand; that they would shoot, not for themselves as individuals, but as members of the team. He. trusted that they would justify their selection as representative, marksmen, and bring back the Kohiporc Cup—that was what they wero being sent to Bislcy for. Responding, Lieutenant-Colonel Hughes said that he was quite satisfied that the team was the best that could have been selected, and. that its members would acquit themselves creditably. For himself, he intended to act upon General Godlcy's suggestion and see what' was being done at Hythe, with the object of applying some of the principles adopted there to tho next rifle meeting at Trentham.
