. « PETONE BOWLING. CLUB. (From Our Special Correspondent.) Last evening a very successful smoke concert vas_ held at the Petone Bowling Club's paviiion. The social room was packed to the doors, and Mr. W. Henry, president of the club, presided. The purpose of the gathering was to entertain members of tiie Hutt Club, who were the losers in the President Cup competition, between Hutt and Petone, the latter having won the rubber. The president congratulated the Hutt Club on their playing during the competition, and heartily welcomed them. He hoped that' although this was the first gathering of this nature it would riot bo the last. Several others also spoke. • A lengthy toast list was interspersed with items given by Messrs. V. Hendry, V. A. Mason, and C. Gray and Mr. it. G. Kirk also entertained those present with a number of graniaphone selections. Tho general arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Stephens and Kirk. HUTT VALLEY GUN CLUB. A clay bird handicap (i; 30), and the clay bird championship of New Zealand was shot off on the Hutt Valley Gun Club's ground, Taita, yesteriay, in wind and rain. The .£3O handicap was won by Mr. E. King, of Waihi, with 19 breaks out of 21. The scores and and prizes were as follow:—E. King (15yds.), 19, .618; S. Edwards (13yds.), 18, £i; J. Brasell (11yds.), 18, .£5; H. Jensen (19yds.), 17, £2; S. Scott, 16: J. Robertson. 16; K. Hughes, 15; K. Phclp, li; H. Hancock,H; W. Woolven, 13; W. Tulloch, 13; !•'. Gadsby, 13; J. Oa'.cs. 13; W.
