Tho Hawko's Bay Loan. r The secretary read a letter which ho had written to tho Hawke's Bay Union asking for an immediate ..settlement of the money outstanding on the union's loan, "which he nad stated that itho J union would have .to consider calling lip ; the loan. The secretary of the Hawke's Bay Union- , had replied -asking .that the matter be allowed to stand over until the annual meeting, when the union's delegates would explain the position. It was decided to let the matter stalid over until the annual meeting. ' ... A "Sub-Union's Appeal. The Danncvirke Sub-Union again appealed against- the decision of the Hawke's Bay Union in removing a disqualification, imposed on a Woodville player by the sub-union for using threatening language to a referee iii June last. The player' in question was'disqualified by the sub-union, but, on an appeal to the Hawke's Bay Union, the disqualification was removed. The appeal had been .before tho union some'.woeks ago, when it was decided that.no action could be taken'as the appeal had not been made within the time- stipulated by the rules. After some discussion, it was decided that the union was unable to reopen the matter. : Removal of a Disqualification. : It ,\vas decided to remove tho disqualification of five years imposed on W. Grant in Marlborough in 1909. Grant is now resident in Hastings, and the application was made by the local union and recommended by' the Marlborough Union. ; Professionalism in Hawko's Bay. '. A letter was received from the Hawke's Bay Union asking the Management Committee to givo an instruction as to the position of the union in regard to , players who have taken part in practice games under- the Northern rules. The letter stated that tho men were induced Ho play in practice games, which, it was represented, would not iiiterfcve with their amateur status. Tho Northern Union officials;- it was stated, were veryactive in Hawko's Bay, and had induced two senior and one junior club to secede. ' ■■ ■

It was decided to refer the Hawke's Bay Union to the rules as to professionalism, and to state tiint the committee would be prepared to consider and givo them information on any particular case. A southern player, G. A. Grey, who played Northern Union football during a visit to England, applied for reinstatement :as an amateur. It was decided that the union had nio power to reinstate the player in question as an amateur. Australian Tour Kef used. An application from To Aute College Old Boys for permission to tour Australia this year or next year was referred to the incoming committee, although the present committee could not see its way to recommend the tour.

It was decided that the recommendation of tho New Zealand Referees' Association to the effect that, in the event of captains disagreeing as to the number of spoils to be played, tho number be four, should be referred to the annual meeting. . , RUGBY REFEREES. ' ] A meeting of tho Wellington Rugby Referees' Association was held last night. Mr. 11. E. Curd presided, and there was a largo attendance. : Printed copies of the minutes of the conference of delegates to the New Zealand Referees' Association were received and distributed among members. It was reported that some new members had attended at the appointed time for examination on more than ono occasion, but could not be examined, owing to the. failure of the Classification Committee to attend. committee stated that two new members had been passed prior to the meeting last evening, and that satisfactory arrangements would exist in future. ASSOCIATION GAME. The following are additional results of Saturday's matches:— Second Division. AVadestown heat Toa by 4 goals to I). M'Leod (3) and Hay (1) scored for tho winners, and Baker (2) and Wincraha (1) scored for the losers. Third Division. Rangers defaulted to Johnsonville. Fourth Division. Diamonds beat St. Anne's by 11 goals to nil. The scorers were Bidmvad (GJ, Guilford (■}), and Bowden (1). South Wellington beat Institute by 2 goals to I.- Johnston (1) and Jones (1) scored for the winners, and Furness for the losers. Swifts beat Y.M.C.A. B by 7 goals to 2. For the winners, Cusack (1), Brown (2), Coleman (2), and Guise (1) scored. Evans and Jlakail scored for Y.M.C.A. B. Sixth Division. Swifts beat Brooklyn by 1 goal to nil. KARORI RIFLE CLUB. ANNUAL DINNER. At Godber's rooms, Cuba Street, last evening, the Karori fliiie Club held it 3 annual dinner, and presentation of prizes. Occasion was also taken to bid tareivell to President H. Marshall and Deputy-President 0. Halliday, who are proceeding to Bi.'lcy. Tho chair \va3 occupied by Air. H. Marshall, president of tho club, and. there were about 40 members and .ftieJidsupresent. , Among those present were: Mr. W. H. Field, M.l'., patron of the club, Captain F. Burton-Mabin, . Captain Mce,. Lieutenants Wilkinson, and D. Kenny, and Mr. J. Mills, vice-president. ' ' Apologies were received from Colonel Collins, Captain G. Hall, and Mr, \V. Jackson. Mr. Field presented tlie prizes won during the season. Mr. H. Marshall'proposed .tho toast of tho "Dominion Rifle Association," and, in respondjng, Captain Mabin stated that when-it was stated that tho Karori Rifle Club had 23 representatives at tho last Dominion Rifle Association meeting, that statement spoko volumes for the interest which its members took in rifle shooting. It constituted a record number of entries from one club. They have always done their fair share in service matches, and he hoped thqt they would continue to do so under tho new conditions. Ho alluded to the fact that tho club had GO members, and tho average length of service for each man was seven years. The club was also to be commended for sending '■' its president, Mr. G. Marshall, to Bisley, and ono and all entertained the hope that he would do well whilst there.

Deputy-President G. Halliday proposed the toast'of the "Club Champion. In doing so , he stated that Mr. Marshall had always been a hard worker, full of interest for his ow,n clubi and also for other rifle clubs throughout the Dominion. ■ ■

. In responding, Mr. Marshall mentioned it-was the first time that he had annexed tho championship after several years of hard endeavour. Mr. Judd proposed the "Donors of Trophies," and Mr. J. Mills responded. Mr. 6." Marshall,'in proposing "Tho Patron of tho Club" (Mr. W. H. Field), stated that he was tho best friend which riflo clubs had in the. House, and it was through his influences that present conditions in regard to clubs had been brought about. In reply, Mr. Field stated thai thero was a probability of Karori being in his district when the redistribution of boundaries was brought about, and he sincerely hoped that this would bo so. A few years ago clubs, suffered under harassing conditions, but now matters had improved. The Karori Riflo Club had always Jiceii a power behind the scenes in this direction. Regarding tho Parliamentary deputation to the Minister for Defence last season, when it was urged that more encouragement should be given to rifle clubs, Mr. Field stated that Mr. H. Marshall practically - organised the whole affair. Recently it had been rumoured that riflo clubs were to receive a set-back, for what they have succeeded in getting they would probably lose. ' He wished to warn tho various riflo clubs throughout the Dominion not to stop, until they received tho same advantages that Australia was granting- to. their clubs. During tho course of the evening a presentation was made to Rifleman Harris for making the possible at 1000 yards in a recent club match. It was mentioned that Mr. Harris had a record of 28 years' service. Presentations were also made to tho president, Mr. H. Marshall and Mr. H. L. Brown, who received a trophy for being the most improved shot in the chili. The toast of the "Bislcy Team" was proposed by Mr. .1. Raise, and responded to by Mr. G. Halliday. Complimentary reference was m.ido to the work of the secretary of tho club, Mr. F. Hickson. Between the speeches items were rendered by Captain Mee, Lieutenants Wilkinson, and D. IConny, Captain Mabin, Riflemen G. Halliday and Wells Mr. Burns, and Mr. M'La'ren. Lieutenant D. Kenny was the accompanist.
