MORE CASE OIL FROM NEW YORK. Within the next eight months it is estimated that about 600,000 caso3 of oil will be landed at the various ports in the Dominion from New York The Briez Izel, now en route here, has 150.0E0 cases aboard. She will bo followed by tho Cape Bretos, expected to clear this month. The AprilMay vessel will be the Hyndford, and. following her with the June-July shipment, will be a vessel unnamed at present. NAMES OF NEW UNION STEAMERS. Last week the launch took place -■' '' Union Company's new cargo steamer Kanna at Lcith, Scotland. It is intended that the vensel should leave Home next month. She is a vessel of 2000 tomi. The new intercolonial steamer of 7COO tons and 05CO indicated horse-power i-s to be named Mnunganui. She is to be 10ft. longer than the Marama, and is expected to leave the Clyde in September. INDRAHAItAH FROM LONDON. On her second visit to the Dominion, the Tyccr liner Indrahar.ih arrived at Wellington from London, via way ports, yesterday afternoon, and berthed nf No. 16 Jervois Quay. The vessel's voyage from the Homo port was uneventful, fine weather generally being experienced throughout. I'hu averapc speed maintained was 12.3 knots per hour. The new Citnard liner is to bo named Aquitania. She is 5000 tons heavier than the Olympic and Titanic. It is proposed ti dispatch the Union Company's collier Wanaka from Westport for Wellington to-day. She brines coal for the local branch of the Westport Coal Company. The IComata will follow her. Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and Co. adviee that Hid Kaitoa, will leave Wellington nt 5 p.m. to-day for Nelson and West Coast ports. The Waimca, due from flreymouth to-morrow, leaves on the sanie day for Nelcon and the West Coast. Tho Norwegian barque Arid, which has been anchored in the stream for tho last two or three days, was towed out to pea by thn Duchcsa yesterday afternoon, and sot sail for Dunodin. Tho Union Company's steamer Rotomahana is undergoing an overhaul preparatory to entering the Ifclbourno-Launceston service at the end of the month. Sho will run in conjunction with the steamer Loongana. Mr. F. W. Barron, chief officer of the Waipori, has been appointed acting-inaetcr during Captain,A. C. Sloman's absence on holiday leave.., The second and third officers have been promoted a stop, and Mr. Thorp (late of'the Komata) has been appointed temporarily third officer. Mr. J. Kia Ora, s.s., completed discharge of Homo cargo for Wellington on Saturday, and cleared for the Bluff at daybreak yesterday. '"" At 6.25 a.m. on Saturday the P.H.S. steamer Kent left Wellington for Timaru, Lyttelton and Avonmouth. On Friday last tho Union Company's steamer Navu.a left Suva for Auckland and Wellington with a cargo of fruit. Sho is due here on Thursday next, and proceeds henco to Westport for a load of coal. ■ The Norwegian barque Jljordis has been chartered to load coaf'at Wcstport for tho South Sea Islands. She then proceeds to 'Surprise -Island to load phosphates for New Zealand. .. News to hind states that another Nor-wegian-owned barciue-the Jlataura—loads phosphates at Seychelles Island for a NewZealand port. The new Federal-Houlder-Shiro liner Argyllshire will be handed over to her owners by the builders about tho middle of next month, and in .lunc will leave Liverpool for Australia and New Zealand. Captain Chicken, late of the Ayrshire, will have command of the new steamer. Captain Frcdrikscn, late of the Norwegian barque Hjordis. died in a privato hospital in Dunedin on Tuesday evening. Tho barquo arrived from Norway on February 21. Her master then appeared in very feeble health, and in a few days retired into a hospital, and since then, owing to some serious internal trouble, gradually sank.
