The South African Assembly discussed the question of tho lowering of'the, Cape Point light, which was frequently obscured. The erection of a lighthouse at Slang Kop was also demanded. Sir John Merriman contended that recent wrecks had been due to careless navigation. Tho Hon. J. W. Sauer, Minister for Railways and Harbours, promised an immediate inquiry.
