A MOONLIGHT WALK.
DUXEDIN TO CIIRISTCHURCH. Easter enjoyment takes various forms, bill surely none mors curious than that conceived by Mr. George Anderson, a Dunedinite, who undertook to walk from Dunedin tn Christcliurch by moonlight. A Timaru "Pest" representative met Mr. Anderson at 10..'i0 on the evening before Good Friday in the enjoyment of a fish supper at one of the local cafes. Mr. Anderson explained that there was a wager of .£5 attached to his singular effort, the conditions of which were- that he wns to walk only between sunset and sunrise, and to reach the Cathedral City within one week of leaving Uunedin. Ho made it clear, however, that lie had really undertaken the walk for the love and novelty of the Ihing.
"I left Dunedin," Mr. Anderson explained, "at G.SO on Monday evening. I havp practically twelve hours at niy disposal every night. I have been extremely fortunate in re?:ird tn I lie weather, having had the clear light of (ho moon during the greater part of my walking. I havo not 'bustled, , as you might say, dawdling and resting as my fancy persuaded. In my four nights on Hip road I have met. fifteen Ira inns who literally havo nowhere to lay their heads. Exhilarating though the dews of an Easter nijflit may be to a cheerful traveller, they mean something very different to the mi tor lunate who desires to lie down and rest. Tlicro is a strange undcr-ourrenl of sympathy runiiinT along the line cf humanity "on the road,' and I experienced no difficulty in commencing a most friendly and intimate intercourse with the members of the Wandering Fraternity that 1 mot. And among them, I regret to have to admit, were man of obvious talent, who ought to be filling almost any position in society rather tiism that of the famishing philosopher on Hit- high road to nowhere."
