A SHOAL OF FLYING FISH.
ft LIKE AEROPLANES. (By Tcflcrra'pli.—Special Corrcspondeni.V Auckland, April 20. A rather unusual sight was witness-, cd by passengers on the s.s. Xgapuhi, from Wliangarei, last Tuesday. About two hours out tho vessel passed through a largo shoal of flying fish, which rose up in twos and threes from directly under tho bows and flow landwards, in most cases, for about W yards beforo returning to tho water. A number of passengers watched this , Sight for about an hour. It was estimated that between 60 and 70 fish ' disturbed by the vessel. It was cu.'ions to notice that, even at the moment of rising from tho water, tho wmgi of tho fish remained perfectly motionless, ind there was no sign of flapping. o,io jf the spectators,said that the MjLht ivas "like a lesson on aeroplanes.""
