Still another candidate has come forward for i>, seat on tho Borough Council, tho latest addition to the list being Mr. George Allman, a well-known resident of tho town. If all those who have been mentioned are nominated, there will bo twenty-throe candidates tho nine seats on the council. The comiriittce of the Men's Free Club have lixed May 4 as the date for the "social," which is to bo held to raise funds to provide more commodious accommodation for the club. Quito a largo number of Palmerstonians have gone north on fishing bent, the splendid reports from Tokaanu having tempted them to spend their Easter holidays there. Many others, who have not so much time at their disposal, have arranged to go to Foxton beach, whore abundant sport in the fishing lino is to be obtained. A tlrun'.teu man fell through tho plate-glass window of a confectionery shop in Main Street last night, completely destroying tho window. The police havo the matter in band, and tho delinquent will be brought to book. Dr. and Mrs. G. Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Taskcr, of this town, left yesterday for Auckland, en route for tho Old Country.
