INSULTING A SCHOOLMISTRESS.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER in COURT. (Bγ Telecraph-Soccial Correspondent.) Palmarston North, April 14. A case in which Mrs. V. Richardson and her daughter Daisy Richardson were charged with using insultinc and abusive language to Miss Ruby DumMeton, a teacher at .the Longbiirn State School, and also with disturbing the school, occupied the S.M., Mr. A. D. Thomson, this week. From the evidence, it transpired that a son of defendant had been kept in for not doing his work, and for disobeying the teacher he was strapped. Then the mother and sister appeared on the scene, and used the language and conduct complained of. The magistrate convicted both defendants, hut let them off with the payment of costs, amounting to £1 16s. At the same sitting of the Court a number of parents were fined for not sending their children to school regularly.
