GREAT GRAIN SHORTAGE.
POSITION IN .ASHBURTON. COUNTY. The average threshing tallies for the threshing mille in the Ashburton County for the season just, closed are' abor.t. 43,000 bushels- rf mixed grain, which (says our Christc-luu-eh correspondent) is fully 20,000 buslmls short of last year. This represents a shortage of 800,000 bushels for the Ashburton County, 'the falling-off being mainly represented by wheat. During the past month a very large quantity of oaten chaff has been trucked from Halcombo Railway Station. Three farmers alono are reported to havo grown over a thousand tons of this profitable crop.
