ANGLICAN MISSION SERVICES.

ADDRESS BY THE BISHOP. At the first of tho mission services at St. Peter's Anglican Church yesterday tho Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Wallis) spoko on the words, "Jly God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" He said thesa were the bittorese words that had ever fallen from human lips-bitter, indeed, when they fell from tno Psalmist David originally, but bitterer tar when used by Christ, it all scemod so strange from two Sinless One, Wlu had bciore said, "1 must bo about My Father's business." The preacher remarked that his lirst thought in regard to this saying was one of real thankfulness that the evangelist had recorded them; they witnessed to the genuino character of the Gospel record, for no writer of a cunningly-devised fable would have used them, it was a record of what was known to be true. After speaking of tho sympathy and suffering of the Crucified, the Bishop referred to the Atonement, showing how tins old view sometimes repeated offended against tho truest conception .of the Father, Who must have loved Christ moro (if it were possible) when tho gracious words of pardon sounded from the Cross and when the appeal, "My God, My God" rang forth.

The Rev. J. H. Sykes took the second address, choosing as his text Hcb. 11, 18. His discourse was on the subject of temptation, and ho showed that temptation was limited, and (hat Jomis was the friend of the. tempted, having l>ecn tempted in all thinps like unto us, but Hβ alone without sin.
