NATIVES MUCH EXCITED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Calcutta, April 10. Further details are to hand of tho massacre of Mr. Noel Williamson, tho British political officer, with his party, at Sadiya, in Northern Assam, by tribesmen. Mr. Williamson had recently ordered the Abars, an independent tribo in the North Lakhimpur district, to relinquish to the Miri tribesmen certain forests which they had seized, and return to the hills. . . . The massacre has caused intense excitement in Upper Assam. It is believed it will havo a most harmful effect on the Dofflas and other tribes. Light horse and volunteers in tho Assam Valley are mobilising. Twelve hundred troops are assembling at Sadiya.
