HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
■ The Hutf County Council met. yesterday. There were present: Comic lors M. J. Lynch '(chairman), J. AVakcn"^ Gt,llo «''\ v . J- AVhiteman, and AV. Welch. It was reported by the engineer that the mam swamp road at AYaiuni-o-Jlata had been metalled from the foot of the hill to beyond the school. Sixty chains of the lower AYainui-o-Mata Road had been metalled, and the metalling of the -Motukaraka Road had been completed. The engineer recommended that a low sea-wall, about 2ft. high, and three chains long, going cast from Brown's Hill, in Horokiwi Riding, should be erected to prevent erosion. The damage done by the recent Hood had been repaired, except the protective works at Pakmatahi, which were now in hand. —The report was adopted. Dr. Hector reported that thero had been five cases of scarlet fever in the county during the last month. The Health Department advised that the outbreak of scarlet fever in Epuni district was receiving attention. Accounts amounting to. £62G ss. Id. were passed for payment.
