(By Teleeraph.-Press Association.) Christchurch, April 8. Mr. W. G. Alack, ex-president of the Amateur Athletic Council, in an interview wilh (he Christrhurch "Star,"strongly endorf-cs (he attitude of Messrs. Mnrryatt and Pollock, Otago delegates, on the question of the allccufion of the Auslrnlayian championships. He insists that for the good government of tho ■'port, delegates ought (o have a free wind. In any case, tho allocation of tiie chani|)ioiiships was a matter for the council, under Uulo 10 of (ho Australasian Union, and tho conference, which war purely an informal affair, lias no right to interfere. Mr. A tack remarked on tlio irony of the fact that Ihe Otago delegates, who now ignored the Centre's instructions, wore in the forefront of the agitation against (ho old council when located in Christehurch, and were nov doing the very Iliing for which (hey con. demiied tho members of the old council unsparingly. H was evident (hey realisccl the unwisdom of their former ntti. liide. He hoped the position would go tar towards abolishing that parochialism which had l m ,l n strangle-hold on the association for years.
Mr. Atack added (hat (he prospective retirement of Messrs. Pollock and Marrvatt was greatly to be regretted, for both hart done an enormous amount: of work. t P, n ,"f-" C{l i , .,? 00 ' 1 stl >w of knowlcdgi of athletic politics and tho faculty oi leadership. J
