GUTTER SHOULD BE HIGHER.

WEAK AGENTS ALLEGED. It is reported that Mr. A. MTarlano president of tho National Dairy Association, and chairman of the Ballance Cooperative Dairy Company, has received Ttrom Messrs.. Mills and Sparrow, London, a. communication in which tho firm savs that there is no doubt that New Zealand butter to-day should be sellin" at 6s. to Bs. per cwt. at least moro than itcommands, and it is simply because there arc two many weak agents, who are spoiling the trade that better prices are not obtained.

It is pointed out that one factor in connection with the lower range uf price is the fact that the total imports into Great Britain for tho last eight weeks, as compared with the same eight weeks Jast. year, show an increase of over 25,1)00 boxes weekly. This extra quantity had to bo marketed, and it has only beeii possible under existing circumstances to .market it on a lower basis of m-ices. The writer says there is no douufc that tho ;Aew Zealand dairy produce.-business can (DO put on a very much better basis than it is to-day, but tho National Dairy Association will have to go in for a strong policy, stick to this policy through thick and thin, and get the co-operation of chairmen of dairy companies in New Zealand.
