WIRELESS.
AMATEUR ENTHUSIASTS. (By TolcEri'pU.-Spccial Correspondent.! Christchurch, April G. The "Press" to-day states that there are several private wireless stations in Christchureh, tho property of amateur enthusiasts, some of whom have been rewarded with a great deal of success. \ representative of the paper has had an interesting conversation with the owner of one of these stations, a youns man who has made the subject of wirele=<s telegraphy his special hobby. His station, an experimental one, has now been up about six weeks, and has a radius of ten miles. The system is his own, and ho has never received any personal instruction. The plant is entirely his own construction, and ho has been encaged on it a couple of months. Ho is "experimenting with various systems with the .object of patenting a system of his own. The plant is working satisfactorily. "There are four or live of us around Christchurch \vith stations," said the young wireless enthusiast, "but only three 3 of us have sol any satisfactory results so far. I started last of all, but g O t the first results, although not tho best. One station is two blocks away, and we can easily communicate! with one another. We have received messages from the Ulimaroa at Lyltelton, but we have not transmitted any to her yet. One night we intercepted one of hers to another boat. We could easily take a message from a vessel at sra, and that might' provo useful if she happened to be in distress."
