KING EDWARD MEMORIAL.
OBJECTIONS TO PROPOSED SITE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrisht (Rec. April i, 10.10 p.m.) London, April 4. The proposal to erect the King Edward Memorial in the Mall opposite the gates of Marlborough House, and almost fronting St. James's Palace, has aroused many protests in the newspapers and in the House of Commons from those who desire to preserve the sylvan aspects of St. James's Palace. Replying to a question in the House of Commons Mr.' Dudley Ward promised again to suggest to tho Mansion House Committee the desirability of erecting Mr. Mackennal's statue in front of the Admiralty Arch in Trafalgar Square. ' Tho critics of tho committee's proposal object to tho proposed straightening of the road and the rebuilding of the bridge across the lake in St. James's Park.
