BASHI-BAZOUKS TO THE RESCUE. Dy Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. April 2, 5.5 p.m.) London, April 1. Advices from C'etinje, the Montenegrin capital, stale (hat tho Turkish garrison ilt Tushi, Albania, assisted by 180 Mussulmans, made n sortie, and attacked the insurgents, afterwards returning to a blockhouse. There were twenty casualties. Two thousand Bashi-Bazonks (irregular troops) are fighting their way through to the relief of the Albanians at Tushi. The insurgents do not exceed four thousand. MONTENEGRO NEUTRAL. Cetinje, March 31. Montenegro declares that she is absolutely neutral in regard to the Al-banian-Turkish trouble, and denies that Montenegrins participated in tne recent fighting against the Turks. WIDOW'S APPEAL FOR MERCY. (Rec. April 2, 5.5 p.m.) Constantinople, April 1. The widow of Colonel Schlichtling, the German instructor in the Turkish army, who was murdered by an Albanian soldier, has appealed for the reprieve of her husband's murderer. The appeal has made a deep impression in military circles, but it has been decided that the execution is necessary in the interests of discipline.
The Bashi-bazouks are irregular auxiliaries serving in connection with the Turkish Army for maintenance, but without pay or uniform. They are generally mounted, and in consequence of the absence of pay frequently resort to pillage.
