A DISASTROUS MONTH. (By Telegraph.—PrcES Association.) Timaru, April 1. Tho drought has broken, but not half an inch of rain has fallen yet. Mr. W. Talbqt, chairman of the Farmers' Union, said to-day that tho past month has been disastrous to the pastoral industry. The turnip crop has almost wholly failed on low country, and grass is very short. The wheat yield has been good, but if the returns of the total are correct there will not bo much surplus for export.
