SATURDAY'S COMPETITIONS. WELLINGTON BATTALION V,' KAEOKI. The annual ride match between the first Wellington Battalion and the Karori Dcfenca Jiiile Club was fired at Trentham on Saturday, in good shooting weather. The match, which was fired in excellent spirit throughout, resulted in a win for the Karori Eille Club by 25 points. At the completion of the firing at 200 yards, the Kaforis led by 3 points. They gained 0 at 500 yards, and 13 more at COO yards. The shooting was excellent. President Marshall, for the Karons, again headed the scores for the day with 103 points out of a possible 105, a total also reached by Kifleman Franco. Riflemen Burns and Randell each made 100 for the Riflo Club, and Sergeant Fisher 101 and Sergeant Dodd 100 for the Battalion. No fewer than ten possibles were made. These were secured at 500 yards by Riflemen Randell, Caldwell, Fellows, France, and Gocdall for the Karori team, and .Sergeant Dcdd, Sergeant Fisher, Sergeant Davidson, Corporal Russell, and LanceCorporal Hunt for the Battalion. At the conclusion of thematch the Territorials were entertained at afternoon tea by the Riflo Club men. President Marshall, iu tho course, of a few remarks, congratulated the Battalion team on the excellent "shoot" they had put up, and commented on the great improvement shown by its young shots.
