• BILLIARDS.
When the final session of the match, (8000 Tip) between Harverson and Lovejoy began at the Grand Hall, Leicester Square, the result was a foregone conclusion, for, in spite of having received a start of 1250, Lovejoy was no fewer than 1540 behind,' during the session., Harverson had the best of the exchanges, scoring his necessary number of points (742)1 while Lovejoy totalled 524, he being defeated by no fewer than IG7U points. Final scores: Harverson, 8001); Lovejov (received 1250), 6324. At Salio .Square (Loudon Tournament) Inman gained a splendid victory over Mcecc, by 152 points. From the commencement of the heat the game was of the keenest character, neither player being able to claim any great advantage. Inman, at the outset of the final session, had a lead of 470, and, getting away ' well, had, at the. end of his third visit, to the table, carried his advantage to : 703. Bv that time the game appeared, to be as good as over, but Recce, who hitherto had been idle, then camo out [ with a brilliant run of 516—a singularly line break, taking into consideration the 1 circumstances under which it was'put 1 together. l 4 It was compiled almost entirely at.'the lop of the table, and,the ' balls were kept under excellent con- ' trol nil the time. After that ho " steadilv gained, and, at one stage, the difference was only 10S. The remaining proceedings were full of interest, but were marked by a great amount of "safety" plav. This served Inman best, but. so stubbornly did Ke.cce play, that __ it was not until after n session of three \ hours and a half that Inman got home. 5 The heat was unquestionably the most I interesting plavcd in the tournament this season, and, in giving praise to Ini man for liis win, it may bo added that as much credit is duo to Recce for the. ' manner in which he endeavoured to pull i the game out of the live. The final) - scores were: lonian (received 100U), - 9000; Ececo (received 2250), 834.5. o
