HIGHLAND RIFLES.
PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. At a "social" held in the New Century Hall last evening the officers of the Wellington Highland Rifles, and members of the committee which controlled the recent bazaar, entertained the- lady stall presidents and assistants and the members of the Wellington Pipe Band, who assisted at the bazaar. On behalf of the company, Major Macintosh presented Mr. I' 1 . W. Crombie, secretary of the bazaar committee, with a handsome travelling-rug and a framed enlarged photograph of the Highland Rifles, making the presentation, Major Macintosh remarked that the good work performed by Mr. Crombie was largely responsible for the success of tho bazaar. During the evening Major Macintosh presented tho various shooting trophies won during the season. Following is a list of awards: — Company Championship Belt.—Sergeant R. F. Dobson. MacDiannid Junior Aggregate Cup.— Private F. C. Pinckney. Ballantyne Shield.—Sergeant R. F. Dobson. No. 1 Competition.—Senior: Sergeant Dobson, 1; Corporal Shannon, 2; Corporal Eves, 3. Junior: Sergeant Ritchie, 1; Private Sellers, 2; Private Martin, 3. Number 2 Competition (Long Range Shooting).—Senior: Sergeant Dobson, 1; Colnur-Sergcant M'Donalci, 2; LanccCorporal Eves, 3. Junior: Private Pinckney, 1; Private Williamson, 2; Sergeant Ritchie, 3. Extra Competition.—Private Lawson. Possiblo Prizes. — Colour-SergeairS M'Donald (35, the possiblo at 600 yds.); Private M'lver (35, tho possiblo at 500 yds.). ■
