The Minister for Labour, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, intends intervening in tho threatened mining strike in Alberta, British Columbia. Tho Minister is hopefuT of being able to prevent a strike. TELEGRAPH OPERATORS' DEMANDS. Now York, March 30. Chicago telegraph operators threaten to striko on April 1. They demand a 20 per cent incrcaso in wages. STRIKE IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Adelaide, March 31. One hundred and fifty men at tho Angaston railway works have struck, owing to the employment of nonunionists.

WARM PASSAGE IN COURT. Melbourne, March 31. A warm passage occurred in tho Federal Arbitration Court to-day. Tho counsel appearing on behalf of respondents in the engineers' dispute declared that members of tho union not only broke their agreements with impunity, but wcro encouraged to do so by tho Government. The president, Mr. Justice Huggins, tie-dined to listen to such remarks, and said lie would not allow the Government to bo spoken about in a disrespectful extravagant way. SEAMEN'S UNION CASE. (Rcc. April 1, 0.30 a.m.) Melbourne, March 31. Tho claims of tho Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia havo been filed in the Federal Arbitration Court. Tho union asks that the pay of ablo seamen shall bo fixed at £& a month; ordinary seamen, £G; boatmen and lnmiD-liimmors, £9; donkeymen, £11; greasers and firemen, £10; and trimmers, £3.
