TO ASSIST TALENT.
AN INTERESTING PROPOSAL'. An interesting proposal was put ward by Mr. G. Toogood at tho annual meeting of the "Wellington Savage Club held Inst evening. This was a proposal to devote, a certain amount of the club's funds for tho purpose of fostering exceptional talent evinced by any member of tho club. This has been investigated by the committee, and they recommend as follows:—
1. That the sum of £100 of tho funds of tho club bo set aside and invested on fixed deposit for a period of threeyears as a nucleus of a fund to bo devoted towards fostering exceptional talout evinced by any member of tho club in either musical or dramatic art. If this fund bo not expended for such purpose, within such timo it shall revert to the general funds of tho club, provided that the club may at any annual general meeting beforo the expiration of tho said threo years continue tho existence of such fund for such timo as it may consider advisable. 2. That a special board bo appointed for tho purpose- of selecting tho member or members to whom, in what amount, and in whnt manner any grant from sucli fund shall bo given. 3. That a sub-committee bo appointed by tho General Committeo of tho club to establish such board, select tho members thereof, aud draw tip regulations defining its scope and powers; tho personuel and regulations of such board to bo confirmed by the General Committee. .As the proposal was a new one to members, it was decided to postpone its consideration-for the present.
