PATHETIC ENOUGH.
THE INCOHERENT YOUNG WOMAN. A young woman, who lias appeared in the Magistrate's Court on several occasions during the past twelve mouths, was tlicro again yesterday, and her conduct was so peculiar that tho magistrate considered that she was a subject for mental examination. Sho bad been granted a remand to obtain legal advice, , but bad taken no steps to do so when sho appeared yesterday, and tho evidence against her (a charge of escaping from a reformatory) stood unchallenged.
On entering tho Court yesterday, she opened firo on ono of tho police officials, and, in the dock, kept up a running series of interjections. Tho following took placo when the magistrate was passing sentence: — Defendant, you had no right to ascapo Escape I Don't you think it was time I escaped From the home
Home? What sort of a homo is it?
You will bo sentenced to one month's imprisonment A month- I ask for bail!
