"GOD'S OWN COUNTRY"?
Sir,—Will-.yon kindly..allow mo to aslc, through your columns,. why this l)ominshould bo called "God's Own Country"? Wo" have turned God's Word out of our schools; in fact, asked Him to depart out of our coasts. Wo ought to be shocked at there our misdoings, and rise up "en masso" and combat such an awful -state-of things. But here wosit. expecting every blessing on our laud. "He that hououreth Me I will honour, and ho that despiseth Mo shall be lightly esteemed." Is it honouring God to ignore Him? To all thinking minds it-must seem plain that wo are only, entitled to the reward of 'a ; ' Godforsaken land; and those who study the Scriptures will find drought mentioned as ono of the severest punishments for sin. "Satan's Own' Land" would., be a moro • appropriate namo for this country.—l am, etc., CONTRITION. Marton, March 29.
