GOOD WORK AND STEADY PROGRESS. The annual report of tho Wellington Baptist Church, tor the vear ended December 31, 1911), states Tit is 33 years since, tho Vivian Street Baptist Church was founded, with 36 members. Only seven of the 3G remain, but the membership has steadily increased, and is now 350. Fifty-six names were added to tho roll during 1910, and forty-three removed by death, and by transfer to other Baptist Churches. The attendances at tho Sunday and mid-week services have been well maintained. A special effort was made to reduce the church debt, and tho sum of £150 has been raised for tho purpose. Missionary interest has been stimulated by visits from tho Rev. J. and Mrs. Talde, from India, Dr. Pettit, successor to Dr. North, Chandpur, India, and others. Four members of the Church are engaged in foreign service, and two are in training at Adelaide. All the Church organisations are in a flourishing condition. The Sunday School has a roll number of 233. with staff of 25 teachers and scholars. Tho Junior Christian Endeavour and Young Men's and Young Women's Bible Classes are notable features in connection with the school. The Literary and Debating Society had a good session, and its representatives carried off the Parliamentary Debating Shield. Work' amongst the Chinese lias further progressed by the engagement of a Chinese missioner. The nuances are in a satisfactory state. Although the year closed with a small debit balance, this has sinco been specially met. The total receipts for all purposes were almost £1100. and included £208 for foreign, and £64 for Home Mission work. The Duplex Envelope svstem of giving has been adopted for the current year, and it is confidently expected that the regular weekly contributions for local and outside needs will bo a great benefit financially.
