WOMAN'S SACRIFICE TO SAVE A
To save a small pet dog from the wheels of a motor-car Miss Amy Herbert, living in Phillimore Terrace, W.. lost her life m Campden Hill Road, Kensington, recently. Miss Herbert was walking with her dog, which was her constant companion, when the animal scampered out into tho roadway in the path of a largo motor-car coming slowly down the bill. Miss Herbert, seeing the danger to her pet. first called him ami then stepped into tho road and stooped to pick him up. "She must have misjudged the distance altogether," said an eye-witness afterwards. " for the car was almost upon her. The chauffeur did his best to avoid knocking her down, swerving upon the pavement, but unfortunately to 110 purpose." The dog ilimped out of the way of the car, but JPiss Herbert was knocked down, the' wheels striking her head and fracturI ing tho skull. ,' . —
