The number of deaths per thousand of' the population during February were at lotl ow ■—A-uckland city, 1.09; Wellington ■/.' n- '" Chnstcllur| :h city, 0.61; Dunedin The rate per 1000, including the suburban boroughs, is as follows-.-Auckland and seven boroughs, 0.82; Wellington and three boroughs, 0.64; Christchurch and three boroughs, 0.63; Dunedin and five boroughs, 0.62.
The total births in the four chief cities and their suburban boroughs amounted to 543, against 652 in January—a decrease of ;09.
