ELECTION OF OFFICERS . (By Telegraph.-Prcss Association.) New Plymouth, March 30. The following resolutions were passed bv the W.C.T.U. Convention to-day:— '(1) That this convention of the W.U.T.U. 3 desires to express its feeling of grief and 1 shnmo for tho disgrace attaching to om s nation in the attitude it has adopted to. 0 wards the opium traffic in China, am in face of the mighty effort made by the Chinese authorities in this matter il k hopes that the British statesmen wil 8 make no delay in ridding our country o! this disgrace. ; ' (2) That a vote of thanks he sent to tin r Premier for having temperance wall sheet: '■ placed upon the walls of the schoolrooms 3 The New Zealand officers for the com ' ing year were elected as follow:—rresi dent, Mrs. Colo; recording secretary Mrs. Mitchell, corresponding secretary Mrs. l'eryman; editor of "White Rib bon," Mrs. Oldham; business manager j Miss Harrison; treasurer, Mrs. Bendely vice-president at large, Mrs. A. K. Atkin ~ son; assistant-corresponding secretary > Miss P. Cannon. Mrs. A. It. Atkinsoi was appointed to represent the union oi the executive of the New Zealand Alii ance. ■ For permanently removing superflunu hair by electrolysis Mrs. Rolleston wa awarded a diploma at the Rhodes Schoc of Electrolysis, Boston, U.S.A.
