The barometer has risen steadily in the south, but has had a falling tendeucv today in the north, moderate 1o strong northerly winds prevailing northward of Cook Strait, changing to southerly in the south. Beneficial rain fell in many parts on the East and ft est Coasts of the South Island. Rivers were reported in flood thia morning upon the West Coast. Present indications are for warm and hazy weather in the north, and fair to cloudy conditions generally; northerly winds prevailing northward of Hokitika and Kaikoura, and south-easterly elsewhere.
